 ”M-a străfulgerat o idee (câți s-or fi gândit la asta înaintea mea?): orchestrele au fost create ca să imite creierul, cu multitudinea sa de gânduri. Unul mai ascuțit, altul mai surd, dar mai dureros. Unul mai suav, ca o mângâiere, altul mai vivace, vesel și plin de zâmbet. Și din toate aceste gânduri, alegi unul. El devine vioara întâi. Sau poate piano forte. Îl lași să te domine, să conducă întreaga ta orchestră de gânduri.
Mi-am pus un concert de orchestră și am început să urmăresc, conștient, un singur instrument. Am închis ochii, mi-am ales să ascult doar pianul și… mi-am dat seama că sunetul se distinge din ce în ce mai clar de celelalte.
Gândurile vin din trecut sau din viitor. În schimb, să ascult doar pianul dintr-o orchestră, mă ancorează în prezent.
De ce vreau prezent? Și am brusc revelația lui aici și acum, atât de frecventa sintagmă pe care nu am înțeles-o niciodată: în aici și acum s-a întâmplat clipa de fericire, în aici și acum nu simți deziluziile trecutului proiectate în speranțele viitorului. Aici și acum e starea de dirijor. ”
